Gtails - A passion for pampering

People make the difference

Friendly, efficient, respectful and always discreet – the staff of Le Germain Calgary takes pleasure in its role as perfect host. Each member of the team has been carefully selected because of his or her natural desire to welcome, assist and pamper guests, without ever intruding upon their private space. Members of our team possess maturity, discretion and an eagerness to not only meet but anticipate the needs of guests. It is our goal to welcome you as we would welcome guests into our home.

The “GTails” program

We strive to become the ideal hosts in every way. This has led to an internal employee program, called “Gtails” (Germain details), which is at the heart of the Germain boutique-hotels guest experience.  A Gtail is a specific, personalized and usually spontaneous gesture of affection demonstrated by one of the hotel’s hosts toward a hotel guest.   The goal of the program is to crystallize, exchange and then integrate each hotel’s Gtails company-wide, in order to make sure the client experience is seamless in every Hôtel Le Germain location.

Le Germain Gtails

Le Germain-Dominion

  • Lost and found - How many times have you left something in a hotel room, never to retrieve it? At Le Germain-Dominion, a client lost a diamond earring in her room. Linda Villeneuve, room attendant, searched for it, found it and returned it by courier. The client was so delighted she surprised Linda with a small token of appreciation.
  • Local flavour - Québec City is a fascinating city, well known by Le Germain-Dominion employees. Esther Patenaude, front desk agent, has suggested to share the local flavours with guests by circulating a list of our "favourites of the month." Each employee recommends his favourite local gastronomic, artistic, cultural or other attraction, allowing guests to benefit from the real local flavour.

Le Germain Montréal

  • Mark that page - Clients often leave their books open on the bedside table. Patricia Cornejo, room attendant, proposed that special Le Germain bookmarks be made and given to guests.
  • Life is sweet - Patriq Chenier, concierge, overheard French guests in the lobby discussing their regret at not having time to buy maple syrup. He immediately offered to go out and get some, but the clients were leaving in less than 15 minutes. Patriq put on his running shoes and 13 minutes later, the guests left the hotel with their maple syrup.

Le Germain Toronto

  • You can talk to us - 20 different languages are spoken in the hotel. Therefore the staff decided that every time a foreign guest arrives, he or she will be welcomed in their native language. Recently, Antonio, bellman, was enlisted to help an Italian couple check into the hotel. He became their go-to-guy for the rest of their stay.
  • We know the way - A guest who made a reservation online added a comment that she was attending a conference at the Metro Convention Centre. The comment was noted, and when she checked in, a street map directing her to her destination (within walking distance) was already printed and waiting for her.
